Tonight we opened another bottle from our latest shipment from Demetria—their 2015 Agno. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this one-hundred-percent Mourvedre wine, however, any expectations I might’ve had would’ve been exceeded.
The color was light black cherry, and I didn’t get a whole lot on the nose, , but on the palate, WOW. My first impression . . . this wine in one word would be SPICY. Not surprising from a Mourvedre, or from a Santa Ynez vineyard, but way more than I expected. Cloves and cinnamon blended with red fruit, (plum, currant), vanilla and some . . . tobacco, but smoky.
It hasn’t changed much in the hour since we opened it, but that’s okay, because it’s just good. I wonder how many more bottles we have of this (because I might want to hide them).
